Getting Started With Pest Control

Some of us like to take care of things ourselves. When we have pests, especially the ones we really dislike, we need to get rid of them fast. Any way we can. There's more than one direction we can take. We can use chemicals or we can use electronic pest control. But before we make that decision we need to clean house.

Keep It Clean

Common sense tells us that if we want our homes, workplaces, etc. free from pests like Cockroaches, Waterbugs or Water bugs, Mice, Rats and flees, that we better keep it clean. Many of us believe that if our homes are clean that we won't have any of these pests. Many of us believe that if we have these problems, we can do a thoroughly cleaning and the pests will leave.

Please, don't get me wrong. Cleanliness has much to do with it. But you must admit that you know someone, if not yourself, who has had pests move in to a clean home. It happens to the best of us. Why do you think so many people pay an exterminator monthly, it's not so they won't have to clean their house.

OK, with that said. We need to keep our homes clean for many reasons. If you have an infestation, it won't hurt to have a checklist of things to look for. After all they must have found something they're looking for. A refresher of things we may be overlooking. We get so used to our surroundings we need a fresh outlook.

Clean all cabinets, drawers, counters, sinks, stove, oven, microwave, tables and floors.

  • Food spills behind and under thing, like the refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, etc.
  • Keep all food, including pet food, in sealed containers or the refrigerator.
  • Keep recyclables and garbage outside.
  • Remove any clutter, including laundry piles, newspapers, etc.

Bottom line…

  • Get rid of their food sources. Clean, scrub, vacuum, shampoo.
  • Get rid of their water sources. Remove any standing water inside or outside around your house. Look for and repair any plumbing leaks.
  • Seal any cracks in your walls and around pipes, inside and out.
  • Clear the area around your home. Stacks of wood should not be up against the house. Bushes and trees should not be touching the house. Garbage cans should be closed tight.

Decisions

We can use chemicals or we can use electronic pest control.

With chemicals, the list is long. CAUTION should be taken when it comes to chemicals. If the chemicals kill pests, then they can't be real healthy for adults, children and pets. It won't take a lot of exposure to cause problems for the kids and or pets.

Chemicals

  • Boric acid
  • Insecticide
  • Many different baits
  • Spray repellent
  • hydramethylnon
  • fipronil
  • deltamethrin
  • pyrethrin

With Electronic pest control, there's No killing, no mess, no rotting dead bodies, no health issues. Just plug it in and forget it. Our number one choice is Riddex. Our reasoning is simple. It works. If you go to the local hardware store to buy chemicals and they don't work, you're out the money and the time it takes to try them. If you buy Riddex, it just works. Plus you have a money back guarantee to back it up.

Electronic pest control

  • Electromagnetic pest control device manufactures claim to alter the electromagnetic field of your homes wiring, and vibrate the electromagnetic field that always exists around the wiring in the walls, attic and basement of your home that helps create an irritating environment for pests.
  • Ultrasonic pest repellers are quite popular. The manufacturers claim that their devices produce ultrasonic noise so aversive to pests that it drives the pests away.

The idea that we can just plug it in and forget it,
is appealing to say the least.
