Do It Yourself Pest Control
Mouse Traps

A mouse trap is a device designed to trap mice. There are many types and here are a few of them.
Spring traps:
A baited and primed spring traps are very effective in mouse control and are probably the most widely known of all mouse traps. These are the
traps you've seen in the Tom and Jerry cartoons. Baits such as peanut butter, or any food with a strong smell, work best. Be sure to keep the
bait fresh.
Humane mouse traps: These are live mouse traps that capture the mouse without harming it. You can then set the mouse free
somewhere where it will not bother people.
Glue traps:
Mouse glue traps are cardboard or plastic trays with and adhesive on them. Bait can be used in the middle of the tray. The mouse heads for the
bait, gets stuck in the adhesive and there he stays. The mouse can be removed by applying vegetable oil.
Bucket trap: This is a homemade bucket trap, as simple as it gets. Use a 3 foot long 2 x 4 for a ramp, from the ground to
the top of an empty 5 gallon bucket with some peanut butter in it. The mouse will crawl up the ramp and jump into the bucket to get the peanut
butter. He's trapped. If you want to kill the mice, just ad 5 or 6 inches of water and they will drown. Keep the bait fresh and put it on
the inside of the bucket, just above the water line. Trap one or trap many.
Disposal: Disposal of mice and rats is not a fun job, but it should be done right. Rodents and their fleas carry many
diseases that are harmful to us, our children and our pets. First, wearing disposable rubber gloves take the rodent and wrap it in newspaper.
Then, put the wrapped rodent into a sealable plastic bag and seal it. Then, put that into another sealable plastic bag. Then it's outside to the
garbage can with a tight lid.
Food For Thought
The Humane Traps and the Bucket Trap present one MAJOR PROBLEM for us and that is DISEASE. It's really bother sum to think about people
releasing these rodents after they have been caught. We're not saying they need to be tortured, but if you’re going to bother catching
them, then they should be killed quickly and disposed of properly.
The idea that we can just plug it in and forget it,
is appealing to say the least.

No More Mice, Rats, Cockroaches.
